Traditionally 16 primary divisional charts known as “Shodashvarga”, are used for detailed analysis in Vedic Astrology, however, advanced classical textbooks have mentioned up to 60 divisional charts that can uncover tiniest detail about a person’s life.

After the main birth chart (D-1), the D9 chart known as “Navamsa” is given the most importance In order to predict a person's future.

 

 

Calculation of Divisional Charts

In order to create the divisional charts, each sign present in the main birth chart is divided into smaller sub sections depending on the number of divisions required for the divisional chart. After that the position of planets in these subdivisions is calculated, these planets are finally placed in that particular divisional chart.

For Example, to create the D9 chart (Navamsa), each sign is divided into 9 parts of 3°20′ each and the placement of planets in these sub sections is considered for the D9 chart. Similarly, to calculate the In the D10 chart (Dasamsa), each sign will be divided into 10 parts of 3° each and planets are placed accordingly.
