Astrological Remedies

Astrologers may recommend specific remedies to balance the planetary energies in a birth chart after thoroughly analyzing its shortcomings. Remedies are significant since they help create a positive influence and can mitigate or greatly reduce hardships caused by adversely placed planets and work to neutralize past-life karmic imbalances.

Vedic astrology is not just about making future predictions; it is divine knowledge that decodes the karmic blueprint of a person. By reading the birth chart of a person, astrologers can predict the success and upcoming challenges of a person’s life. Usually, after carefully analyzing the shortcomings of one’s birth chart due to affliction of certain planets or houses, astrologers may suggest certain specific remedies to balance the planetary energies. These remedies play an important role in astrology since they possess a positive influence and can mitigate or significantly reduce suffering because of negatively placed planets by neutralizing past-life karmic baggage.

The purpose of these remedies is not to change the fate of a person but instead elevate their consciousness by aligning them with cosmic vibrations, hence improving the overall quality of life and unloading karmic debts. There are several kinds of remedies that are focused on achieving the same, such as Mantra, Yantra, Yagna, Puja, Gemstones, Rudraksha, and Fasting. Each of these remedies has a unique significance and usage and is advised by the astrologer based on the severity of the affliction due to unfavorable planetary combinations in one’s birth chart.

Mantra

A mantra is defined as a sacred verse that possesses spiritual energy. According to Vedic astrology, each planet has a seed sound known as Beej Mantra and some other longer mantras associated with it. Repetitive chanting of these mantras carries the capacity to positively impact the energies of the planet they are associated with. Regular chanting of these mantras with pure intentions and clean pronunciation helps attract the blessings of the planet and neutralizes its negative results.

The main purpose of mantras is to increase spiritual vibrations and strengthen our aura. Mantras are also used to pacify the negative results of debilitated or weak planets and those associated with 6th, 8th or 12th houses of the birth chart. The favourable planets of the birth chart can be made stronger as well with the help of mantras.

Given below is a list of beej mantras (seed mantras) associated with all the nine planets in Vedic astrology. Chanting these mantras creates powerful sound vibrations that invoke the planetary energies for bringing balance, protection, and spiritual advancement into one’s life.

Sun Beej Mantra:
Om Hraam Hreem Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah

Moon Beej Mantra:
Om Shraam Shreem Shraum Sah Chandraya Namah

For best results, these mantras should be ideally chanted 108 times every day, especially during the planet’s dasha or on the weekday associated with that planet.

Yantra – Sacred Geometrical Diagrams

Yantras are mystical geometric diagrams charged with spiritual and cosmic energies. They are often engraved on a copper plate, which is considered pure and pious. They are energized by performing certain rituals and worship before they are ready to use. The main benefit of using a yantra is that it emits positive vibrations by attracting specific planetary frequencies.

Yantras are usually placed at home near the area of worship. Different yantras fulfil different purposes like attracting wealth, warding off the evil eye, protection, attracting harmony in relationships, and so on. Due to the positive energies they emit, yantras are commonly used to achieve spiritual goals, meditate, and attract abundance.

Some most cmmonly used yantras are Shree Yantra – for attracting wealth and divine energy (associated with planet Venus), Ketu Yantra – associated with spiritual detachment and karmic cleansing, Navagraha Yantra – to balance the energies of all nine planets. Read More about Yantras

Yagna (Homa) – Fire Rituals for Divine Blessings

Yagnas are fire rituals where sacred offerings are burnt into the fire, with the idea that fire will purify the home and take forward our offerings to the gods. Vedic mantras are recited while making these offerings to invoke spiritual energies and invite divine intervention.

Yagnas are believed to have a cleansing impact on our home environment, and they play a vital role in attracting abundance, fulfilment of desires, and reducing life struggles. There are some special kinds of yagnas performed to neutralize specific doshas (issues) in a birth chart. When yagnas are conducted to invoke favors from a specific planet or deity, mantras related to that planet or deity are recited with the offerings.

Puja – Planetary Worship

A puja is an act of worship of a deity or planets, performed to gain blessings and favourable outcomes. Worship is performed by offering food, flowers, and incense to the gods and lighting a lamp. After that, specific mantras or praises are chanted to show gratitude for all the blessings the gods have given in the past. Also, requests are made to ask for abundance, healing, and freedom from struggles.

While it is recommended to perform a small puja every day at home to gain divine blessings, one must specially perform an elaborate puja on special occasions or during tough times like during sade sati (Saturn’s transit over the Moon), on birthdays and anniversaries, on the purchase of a new land or vehicle and on festivals.

Puja creates an environment of surrender and gratitude, where cosmic energies are appeased through pure devotion. Read more about Puja

Gemstones – Crystals of Planetary Energy

Each planet has a specific energy and vibrates at a unique frequency. The energy of every planet is absorbed by specific gemstones that correspond to it. These gemstones can be worn by an individual in order to amplify the energy of the planet related to it. To make these gemstones even more effective, they can be crafted as an ornament studded in a specific metal and worn on a specific part of the body.

For example, the gemstone for Jupiter is yellow sapphire and it should be embedded in gold in the form of a ring and worn in the index finger of the right hand. Similarly, the gemstone for the Moon is pearl, and it should be embedded in silver in the form of a ring and worn in the little finger of the right hand.

In astrology, there are certain specifications for wearing gemstones. First of all, one must only wear a gemstone suggested by a good astrologer. The main purpose of gemstones is to provide strength to the already benefic planets in your chart. Gemstones related to negatively placed planet in your chart can amplify the destructive energies of the planet. Therefore, you must be careful about choosing the best suitable gemstone for you. Moreover, while selecting the gemstone, good quality and size should be ensured in order to gain the expected results. Lastly, gemstones must be energized with puja and mantra chanting before wearing and must be worn on a specific auspicious date and time given by the astrologer.

The gemstones related to all planets are Sun – Ruby, Moon – Pearl, Mars – Red Coral, Mercury – Emerald, Jupiter – Yellow Sapphire, Venus – Diamond, Saturn – Blue Sapphire, Rahu – Hessonite, Ketu – Cat’s Eye

Fasting

All the seven main planets in astrology are connected with one day each in a week. You can fast on the day connected with a particular planet to enhance its energies. Fasting also promotes purification of toxins, promotes mental calm, and invites divine blessings. By fasting on the days associated with negatively placed planets in your birth chart, you can reduce the sufferings caused by such planets.

The days related to different planets are:

  • Monday – Moon
  • Tuesday – Mars
  • Wednesday – Mercury
  • Thursday – Jupiter
  • Friday – Venus
  • Saturday – Saturn
  • Sunday – Sun

Donations (Daan)

Giving away specific edibles or other items related to a planet helps reduce the ill effects of the planet and harmonizes its energies. Donation releases karmic blockages and invites abundance and prosperity. In order to make the donation more effective, it must be done on the day associated with the planet you are donating for.

The items for donation for each planet are:

  • Saturn – mustard oil, iron, shoes, warm clothes, black things
  • Rahu – black grams, iron, white sesame seeds
  • Jupiter – turmeric, yellow clothes, books or stationery
  • Sun – gold, wheat, flower
  • Moon – rice, water, milk
  • Venus – white clothes, make up, sugar, honey
  • Mars – jaggery, wheat, red lentils
  • Ketu – scissors, knife, black sesame seeds
  • Mercury – green lentils, green clothes, pen, and diary

Donating things to the needy reduces ego and enhances humility, which is important to balance planetary energies.
