Mahendra Singh Dhoni (M.S. Dhoni) is a legendary captain of the Indian cricket team, widely thought of as one of the greatest captains and wicket-keeper batsmen in cricketing history. He is known for his unconventional approaches, such as his helicopter shot and unorthodox wicket keeping. Dhoni is the only captain to win three different ICC (International Cricket Council) tournaments of limited overs—he led India to a win in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Dhoni is known for his calm leadership, getting him the monicker “Captain Cool.” He is also renowned for his “finishing” abilities as a batsman in limited-overs matches, where he batted to take his team to wins under high-pressure conditions. In IPL (Indian Premier League), Dhoni has played for Chennai Super Kings, captaining them to many wins, and helping them become one of the record holders for most number of trophy wins.
Incidentally, Dhoni’s real surname is written as Dhauni, but a misspelling in school certificates led to the present spelling.
M.S. Dhoni is married to Sakshi Singh Rawat. They have a daughter.
