Giorgio Armani was one of the most respectable and influential designers in the history of fashion. Hailing from Italy, his creations are said to have a timeless and elegant quality. Armani is known for softening traditional and stiff menswear and adding sleek silhouettes to women’s flowing lines. He is noted for saying, “I was the first to soften the image of men, and harden the image of women. I dressed men in women’s fabrics, and stole from men what women wanted and needed—the power suit.” He practised a minimalist approach in dressing up people.
As a young man, Armani studied medicine for three years but quit it midway to join the army. Eventually, he became a window dresser and sales clerk at a department store, which launched his interest in fashion. Subsequently, he began to design menswear. After a decade or so, he co-founded the fashion house of Armani with Sergio Galeotti, an architectural draftsman. Armani took his creative expertise to many areas, such as designing costumes for movies, and creating accessories, eyewear, fragrances, and interior décor. He also designed sportswear for football clubs and the Olympics. He brought his trademark minimalism and sophistication to all he touched.
Armani attempted to practise ethical fashion by banning underweight models, and by being among the first luxury fashion names to take up the challenge to use recycled material in his work, promoting sustainable fashion. He is also known for being the first in the world to broadcast his haute couture line live over the internet, which he did in 2007.
A multi-talented visionary, Armani brought a quiet refinement to his work, which spoke for itself and showed why he is considered a maestro of modern elegance.

Armani is Gemini Moon sign and its lord, Mercury, is in retrograde status, helping him rise and achieve fame on an international level. Known for deconstructed and minimalist outlines and silhouettes, Armani’s clothes are said to have redrawn feminine and masculine styles and elegance in a modern form, which came from the energy of retrograde Mercury and its impact on his skills and decisions.
Armani grew up with an older brother, Sergio, and a younger sister, Rosanna. A strong Venus, gave support from his older brother. A retrograde Mercury and the impact of Jupiter, the 10th lord of career in the 4th house from his Moon sign Gemini, gave him a job as an accountant with a transport company in the initial phase of his life. Eventually, 10th lord Mars in the 12th house gave him fame and success in the international market.
Mars, a fiery planet, is with the Sun (which loses its directional strength in the 12th house), causing challenges related to physical pain—which he faced when he was burnt gravely by an artillery shell that detonated while he was playing with it, killing one of his close friends.
