Brian Charles Lara is a former international cricketer from Trinidad who played for and captained the West Indies. He is known as one of the greatest batsmen. As a testimony to his excellence, he holds the record for the highest score in first-class cricket, with not out at 501, and the highest runs (400 not out) in an international Test innings (against England).

Over 131 Tests, Lara made 11,953 runs, which includes 34 centuries at an average of 52.88. In 299 ODIs, he made 10,405 runs. Lara was welcomed into the ICC (International Cricket Council) Hall of Fame in 2012 for his contributions to the game. He has earned the moniker “The Prince of Port of Spain” or simply “The Prince.”

Acknowledging his impact and popularity, a video game series was created by PlayStation (endorsed by Lara), and is called Brian Lara Cricket. He also penned an autobiography, Lara: The England Chronicles.

Lara lives with Leasel Rovedas, a Trinidadian model and journalist, and they have two daughters.
