| Election 2009 | Prediction |
Rahul Gandhi is the son of Sonia Gandhi, the powerful Congress President and wife of the late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister (also the youngest) who was assassinated in 1991 by Tamil militants. Rahul was only 14, when earlier, his grand-mother, also Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by Sikh militants in 1984. His great-grandfather was Jawaharlal Nehru, the distinguished leader of the national freedom struggle and the first Prime Minister of Bharat. Thus Rahul Gandhi is the scion of Bharat's most powerful political family.
Although educated at The Doon School, as well as St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, Harvard and Trinity College, Cambridge, Rahul, like his father, uncle and grandmother, attended university without completing a degree. He worked as a financial consultant in London, before he returned to Bharat in 2002 to start a software company.
His mother, Sonia Gandhi, took over as the president of the Indian National Congress in 1998 but Rahul stayed away from politics until 2004.
Although since 1998 his mother has been the Congress President and Leader of the Opposition, Rahul showed little interest or involvement in politics. But late in 2003 he began obtaining media coverage, and did not discourage speculation about his arrival in politics. Appearing with his mother in public events and Congress meetings, Rahul also went to Pakistan on a goodwill visit to watch historic cricket between the two nations.
He won a seat in the 2004 parliamentary election from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh by a margin of 300,500 votes.. His sister, Priyanka Gandhi, helped supervise his campaign.
In May 2004, he contested and won by a wide margin a seat in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh where so many of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty have established their political careers. Incidentally, he is the same age as his late uncle Sanjay Gandhi was when he won the elections from Amethi years ago His campaign was directed by his younger sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Congressmen. And with the Congress Party in power, leader of a coalition government, Gandhi's power will only expand.

PREDICTION:
Rahul Gandhi has benign influences on his birth chart, which makes him charming and likeable like his father, the Late Sh. Rajiv Gandhi, who was the darling of the nation when the congress swept into power in 1984.
He unfortunately has similar threats to life also and needs to be very careful about his security.
The support of people will be unconditional and he would have a positive run to rebuild the congress on the grassroots level between 2009-2011.
He might not accept any position voluntarily, although there could be an upliftment of status and some ministerial position for him after February 2010.
Rahul Gandhi has the rare ability of finding success where others have failed. He should take up challenging assignments, as that will continue to enhance his status.
Fear of injury would be high during January - February 2010. He lacks the mental strength to handle challenges and therefore it would be good to have veteran leaders around him.
Status would rise but with hurdles after September 2011.
Based on the current influences, he should win in the parliamentary election and his party should be in a power after the election results are announced, although partners will give a difficult time between August and December 2009. |
